Radek Malý (*1977) ist ein tschechischer Übersetzer,
Dichter und Kinderbuchautor. Er studierte in Olmütz (Tschechien) Germanistik und Bohemistik.
Er ist als
Schriftsteller tätig: er publizierte mehrere Lyriksammlungen, Kinderbücher und
Übersetzungen aus der deutschen Lyrik (z. B. Georg Trakl oder Paul Celan). Für
seine Werke erhielt Radek Malý mehrere Auszeichnungen und Literaturpreise und
er zählt zu den hochgeschätzten jungen Autoren der Lyrik und Kinderbücher in
der Tschechischen Republik. Als Wissenschaftler befasst er sich mit vor Allem mit dem österreichischen,
deutschen und tschechischen Expressionismus, mit Translatologie (Schwerpunk
Lyrikübersetzen) und mit Kinderliteratur. Er leitete den Lehrstuhl für
Kreatives Schreiben an der Literaturakademie Prag und aktuell unterrichtet er
am Lehrstuhl für Bohemistik in Olomouc und in Pardubice.

Radek Malý, born in 1977, is a Czech author of children's books, poet and translator. He graduated in German and Czech studies at Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic). He lives in Prague where he works as a university lecturer, translator to/from German and editor. He published ten books for children (novels, short stories and poetry) and six poetry books. Since 2011 he has been the head of the Department of Creative Writing in the Literary Academy in Prague (Czech Republic). With his books he won the most significant Czech literary awards in the children's book category, Magnesia litera and Zlatá stuha, and also the international award White Raven. He also got the international award Honour List Ibby for his book Listonoš vítr (The Postman Wind) from 2011. He works with the best czech illustrators.

Radek Malý, one of the most respected young Czech poets, created a moving, dreamlike book of children's poetry about autumn. Evoking the gentle breeze of autumn and the subtle dance of falling leaves, the book cannot fail to charm readers of any age. Radek Malý's poems are both playful and somber, merry and nostalgic, and, above all, highly touching and original. In 2012 »Listonoš vítr« won the most significant Czech literary awards in the children's book category, »Magnesia litera« and »Zlatá stuha«, in 2013 the international award »White Raven«. The book charms with poignant poems about the rustle of leaves and of paper, the festival of the fall forest, chestnuts, pumpkins, and the special mood of the season. Paired with Pavel Čech's occasionally quite mystical illustrations, Radek Malý succeeds in presenting the hazy autumnal atmosphere of colourful leaves, crisp air, and melancholic fogginess in a sensuous and arresting manner.
